Nesbitt urges Dems to do what’s right, save Michigan jobs

LANSING, Mich. — Senate Republican Leader Aric Nesbitt, R-Porter Township, on Thursday issued the following statement after a state House passed bipartisan legislation to preserve Michigan’s tip credit system and save thousands of jobs:

“In less than a month, one in every five Michigan Restaurants will needlessly be put at risk of closure and the jobs of 50,000 hardworking Michiganders will be put on the line. That doesn’t have to happen.

“House Republicans have successfully proposed and passed a bipartisan solution to avert this looming economic catastrophe. Now, it is up to Senate Democrats to do what is right, stop listening to out-of-state special interests, and join Senate Republicans to protect the livelihoods of thousands of Michigan hospitality workers who have spent the past six months asking for our help. It’s time to get to work and save Michigan jobs.”
