Nesbitt condemns political violence, extremist threats

LANSING, Mich. — Senate Republican Leader Aric Nesbitt, R-Porter Township, issued a statement following reports that a criminal case unsealed on Friday revealed FBI agents have uncovered new threats to kill Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and other Democratic politicians, along with law enforcement officers and members of the LGBTQ+ community:

“Violent extremism has no place in our political discourse. I strongly condemn anyone who would resort to such criminal threats and actions. I also commend our law enforcement professionals who work diligently to keep our leaders and communities safe from these wicked characters. Despite our political and social differences, we cannot lose respect for the dignity of our fellow citizens. We all must share in the important mission of working together for the greater common good.”
